Our Story

“The only reason for being a bee that I know if is making honey.”

-Winnie The Pooh

Humorous conversation about starting a farm with bees, goats, and emus, with a playful tone, including a logo for Smut & Honey at the bottom.

Totally how it happened. Okay…mostly.

This is a LOVE STORY (Well, love of BEES)! City girl meets country boy, boy smiles at girl, girl talks to boy, boy say he’s had a ton of wild animals friends, girl is instantly jealous and says she wants crows, boy says he wants bats, and then they both say they want… you guessed it… BEES! (side note, they also both wanted crows and bats, but they don’t make honey, so we have to wait for those.)

Is there more to it? Absolutely, but the romance writer is the one setting up the website, so I get a little creative editing license here. I love bees, and I always have. I’ve been obsessed with Winnie the Pooh and the bees since I was a baby (there are pictures to prove it, no I won’t post them). The first wall I ever got to paint however I wanted had hand drawn bees and a quote from The Tao of Pooh in the corner above my bed. I complain to my dad about mowing the lawn too much because the bees need it longer. And when I started researching this crazy idea, I couldn’t believe how reachable this goal was. And when I realized I could combine my love for bees and honey with my passion for writing spicy romance and going to romance conventions? Game on!

It’s a crazy dream, and it’s going to take time and a ton of hard work, but I’m dedicated to bringing you high quality, fun, creative bee products while I take little steps closer to having bees of my own.

Note: While the country boy has moved on to a new adventure in life, I owe him deeply for helping me think up this wild idea and so much more. I hope someday I get to invite him out to see the bees I’ve got and, maybe by then, I’ll have the means to jump into the next big goal that he helped me realize. That being said, I miss you, Country Boy, but I hope life is treating you better and giving you more reasons to share that brilliant smile.
